Frequently Asked Questions

Who is responsible for making this run smoothly?
YOU ARE! I just provide the website. Like Craigslist and Freecycle, everybody is responsible for being good community members to make it work.

Who picks the produce?
I will be harvesting my own items and making them available. Personally, I would not be comfortable having people I don't know climb my trees, dig around my dogs, or enter my yard. My homeowners' insurance probably wouldn't be real comfortable with that, either. The good news is, if we all do this, we may spend some extra time harvesting, but we'll benefit from others' harvests, too, so it's a wash in the "time spent" column.

How do we arrange the hand-off?
Again, it's up to you and your comfort level. I take no responsibility for your decisions or actions. Personally, I will be making exchanges in public places unless it's with people I know and am comfortable with. One member has said she plans to arrange meetings at one of the local community gardens.

What kind of people are involved?
In any community, I've noticed there seem to be a ton of totally cool people and some who teach us lessons we'd rather not learn. I assume there is that potential here, in our little online community. I'm hoping to meet some great people and share some great community spirit. It is up to each of us to use good judgment and make sound decisions about who we interact with and how.

How can I spread the word?
Send the webpage info to people by e-mail, or print out some of pdf these cards (pdf) to hand out wherever you see an opportunity.

I don't live in SLO County. How can I do this where I live?
I will answer any questions I can. I am happy to share my files with you and tell you how I did this, within reason. You can contact me here.
